Angels 5 is a contemplative, night-sky variation from my Angels series. Ethereal figures emerge in layers of turquoise, teal, and indigo; their citron halos feel like small suns moving through a veil of prayer. The palette is intentionally restful—modern enough for hospitality spaces, yet devotional enough for chapels and quiet corners at home.

ARTWORK STATEMENT

I painted this work as a whisper of presence—messengers that do not perform for the eye, but stand, keep watch, and guide. The forms are softened on purpose; I want viewers to sense movement before meaning, peace before explanation. The constellation-like flecks in the navy field suggest the unseen order that holds us.

NOTES FROM THE STUDIO

Built with thin, translucent glazes over rough canvas tooth, the glowing heads are scumbled with warm yellow and a cool mint to create that “lit from within” effect. I kept edges open and vaporous so the figures read as presence rather than portrait. This print master was optimized for large sizes—contrast and micro-texture are tuned so the atmosphere remains silky even at 40×30 and 48×36 inches.
